Ryan Moore – What’s in the Bag for 2017 Season
Ryan Moore has had a fine season in 2016, earning his fifth PGA Tour win at the John Deere Classic back in August. He also made the cut at three of the four major tournaments and earned a respectable placing of T32 at the U.S. Open. The Tacoma-born golfer is a fine professional who has consistently proven his ability since beginning his career more than ten years ago.
Golf enthusiasts often love to talk about the clubs they use and compare their bags to the pros. That’s why, in this article, we’ll be having a look at Ryan Moore’s bag for 2016. In the past, Moore has held sponsorship or endorsement deals with various brands including PING, Oakley, Callaway and TaylorMade, but ion 2016 he hit PXG or Parsons Xtreme Golf-branded clubs. Most of our readers are aware of the high end brand, but let’s take a closer look at each club in Moore’s bag.
Driver: PXG 0811 at 9 degrees
Shaft: Matrix Prototype (45.25 inches)
The driver inside Ryan Moore’s bag is the PXG 0811. Featuring a whopping total of sixteen individual, moveable weights, plus an adjustable hosel, the main focus of this club is flexibility. The 0811 can be customized any way you like and is therefore easily recommendable to almost any kind of golfer. No matter what sort of swing style or speed you happen to have, this driver can work for you. It might take some time to test out different combinations and find the ideal setup, but once you’ve adjusted this club, you’ll be able to enjoy its excellent levels of power and control. This driver has a high MOI and provides big, smooth launches on impact. These days, plenty of golfers appreciate clubs that can be fine-tuned, so it’s no surprise that the 0811 has a lot of fans.
Fairway Woods: Callaway XR (16, 18 degrees)
Shaft: Project X HZRDUS Yellow 6.5 (65 grams), Project X HZRDUS Black 6.5 (85 grams)
One of the only non-PXG items in Ryan Moore’s bag is his set of Callaway XR fairway woods. Bigger and more forgiving than most other woods, the XR range is fitted with Hyper Speed Face Cup technology to offer startling ball speeds and a huge sweet spot to prevent any mishits. Callaway boasts that these clubs contain the brand’s highest MOI and COR ratings, as well as the lowest center of gravity. As soon as you take them for a spin yourself, you’ll realize that all of those claims are true. The XR woods are a joy to use and can definitely provide a bit of extra consistency in your game.
Hybrid: PXG 0317 (19 and 22 degrees)
Shaft: Matrix Ozik HM3 Black Tie 85X (40.25 and 39.75 inches)
Moore likes to use a hybrid and in 2016 he’s been enjoying the PXG 0317. Just like with the PXG 0811 driver, this hybrid contains a bunch of adjustable weights and a fully adjustable hosel. The 0317 can therefore be fine-tuned in countless ways to work for your swing and provide the very best results out on the course.
Irons: PXG 0311T (5-PW)
Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold Lite X100 with Sensicore
PXG’s regular 0311 irons were already immensely popular, but the 0311T range takes things a step further and brings all of the technology that highly-skilled players love to have. Rather than offering a soft feel at the point of impact, the 0311T provides a satisfyingly hot snap. Performance-wise, these clubs offer a reasonable level of forgiveness for good players, but have been designed with results in mind. This is a solid set of clubs that offers control, precision and strength in all the right doses.
Wedges: PXG 0311T (54, 60)
Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue
Moore sticks with the 0311T range for his wedges, and we can understand why. These forged clubs are fitted with tungsten weights spread out across the perimeter to offer the ideal amount of stability. A carefully concocted set of grooves on the face helps to guarantee just the right amount of spin.
Putter: Odyssey White Hot RX V-Line Fang
The Odyssey brand is not only Tour-proven, it happens to be the most successful name in PGA history. These putters consistently help players win tournaments, so we aren’t surprised to see Ryan Moore adding one to his bag too. The White Hot RX V-Line Fang putter features a mallet design with weighted fangs to provide accuracy and consistent roll.
