Rafa Cabrera-Bello What’s in the Bag
Updated after the Cabrera-Bello’s February Start in Dubai
Rafael Cabrera-Bello has been enjoying the finest season of his entire career in 2017. He hasn’t won any tournaments, but he did manage to make the cut at all four majors for the first time ever, and finished up with some impressive placings like his T17 at The Masters. Not only that, he also managed to get a 3rd place finish at the WGC Dell Match Play event back in March.
It’s fair to say that Cabrera-Bello’s decent performances have led to a greater interest in the Spaniard, so in this article we’re going to be taking a look at WITB for Rafa in the 2017 PGA and European golf seasons. The bag is almost exclusively comprised of Titleist branded clubs, so let’s take a closer look at Cabrera-Bello’s selection.
Driver: Titleist 913 D3 at 8.5 degrees
Shaft: True Temper Project X 7A3 7.0
Featuring a classic design with subtle adjustments to offer greater speeds and distances, the Titleist 913D3 is an excellent pear shaped driver. The center of gravity has been placed relatively low, while the club also features a specialized insert in the face and a carefully-balanced rear weight to provide just the right mixture of power and forgiveness.
This driver is designed for both pros and amateurs. Cabrera-Bello has impressed with his powerful driving throughout 2017 and the Titleist 913D3 has played a big part in that success. Featuring SureFit hosel technology, this club can also be customized in dozens of ways to suit your swing. We also have to comment on the way this club looks; the aesthetic of the 913D3 is particularly pleasing, guaranteeing that this club will turn some heads out on the green.
Fairway Woods: Titleist 915F at 13.5 or 15 degrees, Titleist 915 F at 18 degrees
Shaft: True Temper Project X 10A2 7.0
Another classically attractive item from Titelist, the 915F range of fairway woods has been a mainstay in Cabrera-Bello’s bag for quite some time. Offering the ideal balance of distance and forgiveness, these clubs are simply a joy to use. The sound at the moment of impact is particularly satisfying, while the clubs themselves feel comfortable in the hands. Once again, the SureFit technology allow you to choose the right amounts of loft and lie in order to get the best results. Compared to similar models, these woods offer a relatively high amount of launch with only a touch of spin.
Irons: Titleist 714 CB (2), Titleist 716 MB (3-PW)
Shaft: True Temper Project X 7.0
Rafa Cabrera-Bello goes with the 2-iron from the 714 CB range, preferring to stick with the 716 MB series for the rest of his irons. The 716 MB set is much-loved by countless users. These high quality irons have been designed with the highest level of care and attention to detail. Adam Scott also makes use of these irons, with plenty more pros and amateurs alike taking a greater interest in the set in recent times. Featuring curved muscle backs to offer extra strength to the sweet spot, these blades are able to offer unprecedented performance, especially to skilled players. The CB range is a little more welcoming, but in terms of power and style, the MB set can’t be beat.
Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM6 (54-08 M-Grind, 60-04 L-Grind)
Shaft: True Temper Project X7.0
Another highly-rated group of clubs from Titelist, the Vokey SM6 wedges feature progressive center of gravity technology, enabling you to really feel the difference from one wedge to the next. The TX4 grooves across the head help to offer higher levels of control on your shots, as well as providing an extra hint of spin on the ball. All-in-all, these wedges are able to offer everything the average golfer could want from this sort of club.
Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2
One of the most celebrated putters in the world, the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 sits firmly in Cabrella-Bello’s bag. With a stunning design and proven Tour success, this multi-material putter hugs the green and glides along effortlessly with each swing, offering reliability every time.
